Dr. Bertelson is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. A graduate of Rice University, Dr. Bertelson attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. He completed his Neurology Residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and his Behavioral Neurology Fellowship at McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA. Most recently, he completed his Fellowship in Neuroimaging at Dent Neurologic Institute in Amherst, NY.
A former instructor at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Bertelson is currently an Assistant Professor of Neurology at the University of Texas Southwestern, a Clinical Assistant Professor of Neurology at the University of Texas Medical Branch, and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Bertelson has broad experience in the management of patients with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, traumatic brain injury, and other neurological conditions.
Dr. Bertelson is a co-founder of the Austin Cognitive Medicine Society and a member of the American Society of Neuroimaging, the Texas Medical Association and the American Academy of Neurology. He has been with Seton Brain & Spine Institute since 2008.
